Although transsexuals are already accepted these days. It is apparent that discrimination is set against. These could be very harsh. I have a friend who went away from his family because his father could not accept him. Today, he is working in salon, doing what he loved the most, earning money, and living with his true friends. But, if given a choice, he would like to change his
male name. Unfortunately, this is not allowed in our country.
On the other hand, name change is allowed in Spain. We all know that transsexuals are those who undergo operations in order to change their physical features from male to female or vice versa. With the rapid growth of the number of transsexuals in Spain, the government finally implemented a law that will allow the transsexuals to change even their identities. Identities mean documents. This privilege is given to them provided they undergo 18 months of therapy supervised by a psychiatrist. Personally, I salute the Spanish government for they are the first among the
great European nations that understands the present situation of transsexuals. The law it has created only proved that it has respect to human rights.
